Sounds of Health welcomes a powerful and deeply moving conversation with Mike Song, race director of the Song Strong 5K and father of Ethan Song, who tragically lost his life in 2018 due to an unsecured firearm. Mike shares the story no parent ever imagines having to tell — the day everything changed, the moment reality shattered, and the commitment he and his family made to turn unimaginable loss into meaningful action.
In this episode, Mike opens up about the creation of Ethan’s Law, the bipartisan effort that reshaped gun‑safety legislation in Connecticut and beyond, and the community courage that carried his family through their darkest moments. He also talks about the origins and growth of the Song Strong 5K, the event that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for youth safety, grief support, and mental‑health initiatives.
The Song Strong 5K returns this year on Saturday, June 6 at 10 a.m. at the Guilford Fairgrounds in Guilford, Connecticut. Listeners can learn more, register, volunteer, or support the foundation at https://songstrong.org/.

Reclaiming Purpose and Connection with Wellbeing Coach Lee Ann Dangelo
Monday May 18, 2026
Monday May 18, 2026
Wellbeing coach Lee Ann Dangelo returns to Sounds of Health three years after her first appearance, and her journey since then has been nothing short of transformational. In this conversation, Lee Ann shares how her work and her life have fully merged into one intentional way of being, and how that shift has shaped her coaching practice, her relationships, and her purpose.
Lee Ann opens up about navigating life after loss, rediscovering who she is beyond caregiving, and helping parents and women over 55 reconnect with themselves during some of life’s most demanding transitions. She explains why so many people lose their sense of identity in the “sandwich generation,” and how small, daily shifts in awareness can rebuild connection, joy, and self‑trust.
Dave and Lee Ann also explore her recent training with the Ancash Jain Coaching Career Program, the power of creating a personal document to guide your life, and why showing up with intention matters more than striving for perfection. Leeann shares details about her upcoming program, The Next Chapter, designed for women seeking deeper meaning, community, and purpose in the second half of life.
If you’re navigating change, craving clarity, or looking to reconnect with who you truly are, this episode offers insight, warmth, and a reminder that it’s never too late to create a life you love.

In this episode of Sounds of Health, host Dave MacNiven sits down with returning guest Ed Knight, founder of Transference, to explore the hidden world of estate administration and the overwhelming administrative burden families face after a major life event. Ed shares how his years in wealth management opened his eyes to a recurring problem: newly appointed executors, surviving spouses, and caregivers are suddenly handed a mountain of paperwork, phone calls, account changes, and deadlines at the exact moment they’re least equipped to handle it.
Ed explains the difference between legal work and administrative work, why so many families default to attorneys for tasks they don’t actually need a lawyer for, and how Transference steps in to guide people through everything from locating accounts and closing subscriptions to opening estate accounts, organizing documents, and navigating probate requirements. He also shares real stories from the field, including unexpected discoveries, overwhelmed families, and the emotional relief that comes from having a clear roadmap during a chaotic time.
Whether you’re planning ahead, supporting aging parents, or dealing with the aftermath of a loss, this conversation sheds light on a service most people don’t know exists but wish they had found sooner. Ed’s mission is simple: reduce stress, cut through red tape, and help families move forward with clarity and confidence.

We’re re‑releasing one of the most memorable conversations from our early catalog — Episode #3 — because its message of resilience, mindset, and purpose continues to resonate deeply. In this episode, former MLB outfielder Adam Greenberg joins Sounds of Health to share a story defined by grit, adversity, and the unwavering belief that perseverance can reshape your life.
Adam takes us from his childhood in Guilford, Connecticut to the University of North Carolina, where he learned that “the gift of perseverance is something that every human being has been given” . He reflects on his rise through the Chicago Cubs organization, the devastating injury that struck on the very first pitch of his Major League debut, and the years of physical and emotional rebuilding that followed. As he puts it, “preparation meeting opportunity equals success” — a mindset that carried him through every setback.
In this conversation, we explore:
How baseball’s culture of failure builds mental toughness
The sacrifices required to chase a dream at the highest level
The role of nutrition, vision therapy, and mental conditioning in recovery
His long‑awaited return to the Major Leagues seven years later
How Adam now channels his experiences into leadership, business, and community service
Adam’s journey is a reminder that success isn’t defined by the moment you fall — it’s defined by the moment you get back up. That’s why we’re proud to share this episode once again.

In this energizing kickoff episode, Dave MacNiven sits down with Casey McKeon—geriatric exercise physiologist, head coach at Orange Theory Fitness Guilford, and former natural men’s physique bodybuilding champion—to explore the science, mindset, and real‑world impact of fitness at every age.
Casey shares how he went from a 105‑pound musical theater kid to a certified exercise physiologist who trained himself to win a bodybuilding competition—without a coach, nutritionist, or posing trainer (“This was all me” ). He breaks down the fundamentals of strength training, metabolism, and nutrition, explaining why “you can’t out‑train a bad diet” and how protein becomes a game‑changer for muscle building and fat loss.
The conversation dives deep into Orange Theory’s heart‑rate‑based training, including how the “orange zone” accidentally became the brand’s signature (“on a sheer accident the most important zone was orange” ). Casey explains EPOC, the afterburn effect, and why the treadmill–rower–strength trifecta creates such powerful results.
You’ll also hear an inspiring look at Casey’s work with older adults—clients aged 81 to 97—and how targeted strength training can restore independence, mobility, and confidence. One 97‑year‑old client went from needing help to stand at the opera to rising unassisted within a month (“was able to get up out of the chair unassisted” ).
Plus, producer Jason jumps in to share his own transformation challenge journey, losing 30 pounds and rebuilding strength, balance, and endurance through Orange Theory’s evidence‑based programming.
This episode is packed with practical insights, motivation, and the reminder that it’s never too late to improve your health—and never too early to start.
